Andrew Thomasson, DDS - Madison, TN General & Cosmetic Dentist | Thomasson Dental

In 2009, I received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and from there I was able to follow in my father’s footsteps by receiving a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. While attending dental school, I had the honor of serving as class president and was awarded the Wisdom Coleman Student Leadership award. I will always cherish the time I spent in Memphis, particularly the friendships and lessons I learned which developed my foundation for treating patients.

Upon graduation from dental school, I entered into active duty in the Air Force and completed my Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. My time at Scott immensely added to my foundation of knowledge and afforded me the ability to expand my skill set to include many new procedures including: sedation dentistry, sleep apnea treatment, wisdom tooth extractions, gum surgery techniques, and bone grafting.

While at Scott, I received orders to report to Minot AFB, ND. Initially, the news was not the assignment my wife and I were hoping for; however, the past four years have been rewarding. I have had the privilege of caring for the men and women who protect and oversee the largest nuclear arsenal in the world. Being able to make a positive impact in their lives, by transforming their smiles and treating their oral health needs, has truly been an honor. During my time at Minot, I have continued to develop my knowledge in all the areas of general dentistry, while serving as the Clinical chair overseeing 8 other general dentists.

As my time in the Air Force comes to a close, I am excited for the privilege to work alongside my father in the practice that he has built over the past 34 years. From a young age, I have aspired to follow in his footsteps. I have been able to see firsthand the passion he has for helping his patients and the relationships he has built with them over the years. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to and grow the practice. I was born and raised in Madison, and I am passionate about our community and surrounding areas. Good oral health is foundational to one’s overall well-being, and having a smile you are proud of can have exponential, positive effects on your life.

Like any area of the medical field, dentistry is constantly changing, but I am committed to being a lifetime student by learning and developing the best techniques to serve my patients. I am currently a member of the American Dental Association, and am working towards becoming a fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry. I strive to be a valuable resource for my patients, whether providing information and education or services to help them to meet their oral health goals.

I initially met my beautiful wife, Rachel, in Knoxville. After reconnecting, we married in 2014 in New Orleans, surrounded by our closest friends and family. Shortly before we married, I received news of my orders to Minot, and when that didn’t scare her away I knew I had found someone special! Rachel is originally from Athens, TN and graduated from UT with a degree in Communication.

When we are not working, we enjoy traveling, cooking, the lake and cheering on the Vols! New Orleans holds a special place in our hearts, and we love returning to the city for the amazing food and music every chance we get. We have greatly missed our friends and families while in Minot, and are ecstatic about moving home and spending time with them.

We have full faith and trust that God will lead us on His path for this new chapter so that we may serve those around us and enjoy the blessings He has provided!
